To Download Linksys WRT54G firmware you should find model number or Version number of your Linksys Wireless Router like WRT54G ver ....
Step 1: Flip your wireless router over. Step 2: You should find the model number on a sticker . Please see the example. The serial number is located right underneath the model number. In this example,the model number of the device is WRT54G ver 6.

Ya really, mine has all lights staying on after my attempt to reset it. I didn't know the password, so that's what I did, now I am screwed

Just press the Cisco logo (its a button with light) which will reset all the settings.
Admin name becomes : admin
and Password : admin in the web page. 192.168.1.1
Once you login as admin to router web page. You can change every thing as you like.
Is it possible to upgrade WRT54G v7.0 to be upgraded to v7.2 or v8 through the firware upgrade only?

Hello. I have a a Linksys WRT54G V8 with Firmware v8.00.0, 16 Jan, 2007. I need help updating the firmare to be able to install this router as a REPEATER of another router. I understand it is possible. Can you provide help on WHICH version FIRMWARE should I dowload and perhaps, how to set it up as a repeater? thank you
Use dd-wrt to setup the WRT54G as a repeater
They explain how to do it on their site. The native firmware will not allow you to set it up as a repeater. You need to load the DD-WRT. Go here: www.dd-wrt.com
Is firmware v5 stable? I need to upgrade for it to work for my Chromecast, according to the Chromecast compatibility router list, it should work with v5.0. Anyone has Chromecast setup with WRT54G router?
